Rameswaram Ramanathar Temple is associated with the Ramayana period

The Adhikara Nandi in the Rameswaram temple is unique in that it possesses the three specialties of vehicle, idol and deity. In addition, the entire Nandi vehicle was made of gold.

There are 144 idols in the first section of the temple and 17 idols in the second section. Apart from these, daily poojas are conducted for the 381 idols in the temple.

Only four sites are considered sacred in our country. One of them is Rameswaram called Ramnath. The remaining three sites were located in the north. They are Dwarakanath, Badrinath and Kedarnath. These are the three Vaishnava sites.

The Nandi in this temple is a large figure with a workmanship. The Nandi is 23 feet long, 12 feet wide and 17 feet high.

Rameswaram has three specialties namely Talam, Theertham and Murthy. The Ramanathar Temple here is a place of worship dedicated to Lord Rama.

It is said that the Kasi Yatra is complete only if the pilgrims go to Rameswaram and worship the Rameswaram Lingam at Dhanushkodi.

For Lord Ramanatha, who is resurrected in the Italattu temple, the anointing with the theertham brought daily from the Ganges is unique.

The Rameswaram temple has a divine trinity with two cones in a row within a single cone. Apart from this, there are 1008 anointing cones exclusively for the anointing of Ramanatha.

The Rameshwaram temple has an innovative lingam made entirely of herbs. The name of this lingam is ‘Vainalingam’.

Ramaphron belongs to the solar system. The royal family of Nepal is considered to be the direct heir of that clan. Therefore, Rameswaram is considered to be the clan deity of the kings of Nepal.

It is noteworthy that everyone who performs puja inside the Rameswaram temple is Sivacharya initiated to the Sringeri Maha Sannidan.
